Make Up Forever Aqua Brow Review | Beauty

Hey everyone!

I don't think I'm alone in the obsession for the perfect brow. I have had a long hard journey with my slugs since I was an early teen. That's a post for another day! :)

I want to talk to you about MUFE Aqua Brow today. It has been knocking about for a little while now but recently I have noticed more brands have started to bring out their own versions of this revolutionary product so I wanted to pay my respects to the life saver that is Aqua Brow!

If you aren't familiar with Aqua Brow let me get you up to speed.
It is a waterproof eyebrow corrector that is used to fill in, correct and actually create brow hairs. The founder of MUFE created this product for her friend who was having trouble finding something to draw her brows on with. You can sweat buckets with this and your brows wont budge! Hallelujah!!!

Aqua Brow has been formulated with volatile oil and carnuba wax. It has a gel texture that sets very quickly so you have to work pretty fast with the product. If you use a light hand it does give you a natural finish but you can play around with it to give yourself more defined brows. It is pretty decent for the graduated brows too. It comes in seven shades. I use the one in Dark Brown.

When I apply then Aqua brow gel I pop a tiny amount onto the back of my hand. I mean a half a pea size amount as a little really goes a long way. Then with an angle brush (I prefer natural hair but its up to you what type of brush to use) I start at the arch of my brow and lightly fill in the areas that need some love.

I am having trouble with the inner part of brows at the nose. I have been threading my brows lately and trying to get an evenish match is hard. I would say the girls are more cousins that sisters right now.

I really prefer the Aqua brow to pencil and shadows now. It is a little pricey at €20 but you do get your moneys worth. If you are on the hunt for something new for your eyebrows then don't let this pass you by...

Aqua Brow is available MUFE store on Clarendon Street, Dublin 2 or online. Click here for link.

Have you used Aqua brow before? What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Review | Beauty

Hey everyone!

Sometimes when a new product launches everyone seems to love it and rave about it but it doesn't always turn out to be as good as they promise so I waited a little while to look into this new mascara from Benefit.
When I approached the Benefit stand at The Beauty Show, RDS on Saturday I connected immediately with the staff. One of the girls sat me down to try it out for myself. I was so relaxed because it wasn't a pitch, this girl was really passionate about the new mascara! I was also really impressed with the fact she had actual Roller Lash disposable wands..

The concept behind the mascara is that the wand curls your lashes so you don't have to. This obviously saves you time during your make up routine. I'm not going to lie I rarely curl my lashes and I know I should so this is what appealed to me. :D

The wand has hooks on the ends that attaches to your lashes and lifts the lash in turn curling it. I love it for my lower lashes as the wand is so slim.

As you will see in the pictures I curled my right eyelash for the craic to see if it made any difference.
Both lashes looked the exact same. You can feel the wand hooking to the lash too so it reassures you that you are using the wand correctly!

I really really really like this mascara. It makes my lashes look super long and voluminous. I don't always wear false lashes so I would be comfortable wearing this mascara alone for a night out too!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara is a YES from me. Thanks Benefit!
Roller Lash is available online and at Benefit counters. Retails at €26. Free gift in Boots when you purchase two Benefit products right now! Click link to find out more.

What do you think? Do you have your own favourite from Benefit???

Irish Beauty Show - The aftermath | Beauty

Hey everyone!

So the other day I mentioned I was going to head into the Beauty Show in the RDS, Dublin. I gave you my top 10 places to check out. Have a look here if you want to catch up.

I thought I would show you what I bought and give my thoughts on the event. I will get the ramble out of the way first!

Gemma (sissy) and I got to the RDS at about 10:00. I thought by getting in and out early we would be safe from crowds. We were wrong! It took about an hour to get into carpark and then into venue!

Out of the hundreds of exhibitors the ones I really wanted to visit for brushes were Crown and Blank Canvas Cosmetics. They had three deep queues around their whole stand. I couldn't have been bothered waiting around the stand so I went on the hunt for another company with equally good quality brushes. I wasn't disappointed :).

We took a trip to see our friends in Cocoa Brown and Nima Brush! Delighted to see them busy promoting their amazing brands! At about 13:00 we decided to admit defeat and dragged our weary legs home with a bag full of goodies and some new contacts!

So without further ado let's get down to business!

Benefit WEBSITE

They were holding first round interviews for all sorts of positions at their stand! I thought that was a fantastic and really creative way to interact with their targeted potential employees.
Gemma had a chat with the recruitment team and I passed the time by drooling over the products they had on sale. I picked up the new rollerlash mascara that everyone has been raving about!
The wand has little hooks that grab onto your lash and pull upwards. This means you don't really need to curl your lashes pre application. A review is coming to you very soon my friends.

Cocoa Brown WEBSITE

what's not to love about this tan? Marissa Carter and her team of amazing girls have been busy taking over the beauty world this last year. Did you know Cocoa Brown is now sold in Ricky's across the USA and recently announced they are now available in Tesco stores across the UK. Well done girls!
I picked up two bottles of One hour tan for €10. Bargain!

 Vivre Beauty Supplies

Not alot of information for you about this place. We picked up three packets of individual lashes for €8. I picked up a thimble (€1.50) for eyebrow tinting and Gemma picked up a little ring that you can pour lash glue into (€2).These were my favourite buys to be honest. Even though they cost next to nothing they are time savers for the future. :)

Laurens Way Tan | Plump & Pout WEBSITE

I actually approached this stand to see if I could pick up some of the LW tan to try out. They were selling the Plump & Pout gloss in natural. I wasn't very impressed with the sales person and personally I think there are much better value lip plump glosses on the market but I was sold when my lips increased in size. This is a purchase I kind of wish I didn't make especially after Gemma accidently released most of the plump serum from a syringe that comes with the gloss..
I will give my opinion on the tan later so hopefully all is not lost. :)

The gloss was €20 on offer (I know ridiculous money!) and the tan was free as a trial sample.

Powder N Pout WEBSITE

I am saving the best till last here. I am so excited about this brand! As I mentioned earlier Crown and Blank Canvas were packed and I needed brushes so I wanted to look out for other companies. Powder N Pout were at a stall right at the back of the venue. The minute I seen the brushes and the prices I was sold! The brushes are mainly synthetic but the main face brushes are duo fibre with mixture of goat hair and synthetic. The owner formerly worked for MAC so she knows a thing or two about brush quality. I had the pleasure of getting to speak to the team about the brushes and picked out two brushes that I am dying to review.
I purchased a duo stippling short brush (€9.99). I will use this brush for cream concealers and highlighting. I also purchased a flat contour brush (€14.99) for sculpting. I love me some cheekbones :P

Giorgo Armani Prive  | Pivoine Suzhou Fragrance

The Pivoine Suzhou fragrance was inspired by the legendary gardens of Asia. The press release is so beeautifully written I will quote below.
"With Pivoine Suzhou, Giorgio Armani has reinterpreted the Eau de Toilette, combining elegance and freshness with soft, lingering sensuality. An olfactory journey inspired by precious flowers and plants, sunlight and pure, cascading water- the source of nature. In China, its character also represents femininity – the yin  and the beginning of life itself."

This fragrance has captured the scent of the peony rose, China's most loved bloom. Initially it gives you a light scent of rose essence, it intensifies with a fruity scent and settles as a musk. The fragrance consists of Orcanox, rose of anais, tangerine, pink pepper, raspberry and a hint of patchouli.

If you are looking for an extra special gift for your beauty loving mother then this is it!
This retails at €115 for 100ml so is not overly expensive either considering how luxurious this fragrance is. You can get this exclusively at Brown Thomas Dublin and Cork.
Your welcome :)

Come back tomorrow for some more gift ideas.!

Irish Beauty Show RDS 8-9 March 2015 | Beauty

Hey everyone!
My love for these trade shows began a few years ago when I was new to the make up world and still hadn't a breeze what to do with eye brushes... I discovered a new world at the first show I ever attended. With the floor map in one hand and my purse in the other I spent hours wandering around a heaving RDS spending time looking at what the stalls had to offer.
I found some amazing brands that day that I still swear by 3 years on.

The Irish beauty show hosts some of the biggest names in beauty but also the smaller brands that you would not normally see on the shelves in boots. They also have Nail art competitions and seminars over the two days that are so beneficial.

I have put together a list of my Top 10 favourite brands that you should not go home without visiting this weekend!

10 - Dream Dots for Spots

This is a new brand for me. I picked up a sample recently and I was pretty impressed. Dream dots are literally clear patches that you place over your blemish over night. I broke out around my nose due to a flu and it cleared a humdinger for me so well worth a bash if your interested in checking them out.

9 - Flair Hair and Beauty Supplies

I have shopped in a number of suppliers over the last few years but Flair just blow me away with their reasonable pricing and product selection. They are the Irish version of Sally's in UK but cheaper. If you are looking to pick up supplies then check these out.

8- The Beauty School (HD Brows)

The girls at The Beauty School are great. They opened another centre in Cork last year which is testament to the fact that groomed brows are going nowhere! They also offer courses for the body wraps!

7- Young Nails

This company offers training in Nail application in their Blanchardstown training centre. I have always been interested in nail art (never got around to training). Young Nails are down the road from me and are one of the cheapest course operators. They have some great reviews too. Young Nails offer training on Callus Peel too.

6 - Cocoa Brown Tan

Cocoa Black as we call it at home is one of THE BEST tans around and I am so happy for Marissa and the team that they are now selling state side! I was in Scotland recently and went for spray tan, the technician and i got talking (as we beauty  mad people do) about tans in Ireland and I raved so much about Cocoa Brown that she went on line as my tan was drying to price for her salon!

5- CND Shellac

Shellac seems to a firm favourite with the Irish public as a cheaper alternative to false nails. It is a polish that lasts weeks and nowhere near as harmful to nail bed as acrylic or gels. I have brittle nails so shellac is the way forward for me. There are always deals on the stand at time.

4- He - Shi Tan

I really considered putting Cocoa here. I love Cocoa Brown for the instant tan and spray tan but He -Shi is amazing for personal use wear off tan. I wore He - Shi tan on my wedding day and couldn't get over how beautiful it looked and the wear off is decent too. If you haven't tried He - Shi yet don't be put off by the price tag. You wont regret the purchase!

3 - Waxperts

Ellen Kavanagh like Marissa Carter from Cocoa Brown Tan started her business from her salon. Waxperts is an Irish owned company.
The wax is easy to use, suitable for sensitive skin and formulated to work on the most stubborn hairs. Have a look out for the stand, the girls do demo's of the wax at work. They also have a cool product that gets rid of ingrown hairs you should look out for.

2 - Nima Brush

Nima is another Irish brand! Flying the flag for the Paddy's today! Niamh Martin is a make up artist and teacher who created her own line of brushes. There is a 10% discount all year round for students on the website. I have three brushes from Nima's Elite Collection - Contour, Blush and a stippling brush. Nima has a mixture of real squirrel hair and high grade taklon brushes. Really affordable and durable. Oh and Nima also has a world famous mitt that you need in your life. Currently on special offer for €5 the Nima Mitt is a mitt that you use to remove all make up. The only extra you need is some water. Who needs cleanser????

1 - Blank Canvas Cosmetics

I love the F20 brush from Blank Canvas Cosmetics. It is a buffer brush. I have had mine well over a year now.I have put it through the wars. It washes well as is made from high grade taklon, blends beautifully and I prefer it to all my Real Technique brushes. I have a big fluffy brush that i love for highlight too. Really really affordable brushes and great quality. GO!

If you haven't gone to one of these shows and you are around the Dublin area this weekend it is well worth the journey. Free tickets are available if you pre register here - irishbeauty.

Tayto's Crisp Sandwich Pop Up Shop | Life

Hey everyone!

I think this is a deadly idea so I'm going to share my excitement with someone....

The clever folk over at Tayto have set up a pop up shop in Wicklow Street, D2 from today (March 5th) until Paddy's Day (March 17th).

They will be serving none other than crisp sandwiches! Seriously though, in my opinion crisp sandwiches are just as much part of the Irish identity as Guinness and coddle!

Available in 4 flavours: Cheese and Onion  My favourite!!
                                   Salt and Vinegar
                                   Prawn Cocktail
                                   Smokey Bacon

Here's the best part.

They are using none other than........  (Sound the trumpets!)

Brennans Bread and Dairy Gold Butter...

I'm telling you awards will be won for this! I heard about the shop on the radio during the week so popped in on my way home from the Armani Master class in Brown Thomas (post coming soon).

You can also pick up Tayto merchandise that are normally exclusive to Tayto Park, Ashbourne, CO Meath. You can buy tickets to the park there too as far as I remember too.

€2 per sandwich with €1 of every sale going to Dublin Simon Community.

I picked up a Prawn cocktail and Cheese & Onion sandwich for myself and my sister earlier and was not disappointed..

Let me know if you find your way into the shop over the next few weeks!
